WASHINGTON — A hidden gem of a building in D.C., although a shell of its former self, came alive Tuesday night to celebrate what may be the greatest band of all time.

Tuesday’s sold-out “Yesterday and Today” concert was held 50 years to the minute after the Beatles played their first U.S. concert at what was then the Washington Coliseum in Northeast D.C.

It now uses its original name of Uline Arena.

Tribute group Beatlemania Now played the exact same set as the Fab Four did in 1964, and then added other favorite songs from later years.

Several elaborate costume changes added to the effect.

Some concertgoers were surprised by the condition of the venue.

Fans had to huddle by portable heaters and use portable toilets set up outside.

It took a few songs before the band got fans on their feet, but soon they were singing along, and, at times, swaying back and forth.
