Terps eliminated in Sweet 16 loss to Kansas, 79-63

WASHINGTON — The Maryland Terrapins were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament on Thursday with a loss in the Sweet 16.

Maryland fell to the top-ranked Kansas Jayhawks 79-63 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville.

Kansas was led by senior forward Perry Ellias, who finished with a game-high 27 points.

Rasheed Sulaimon led Maryland with 18 points in his final collegiate game, while Melo Trimble chipped in with 17 for the Terrapins.

Maryland freshman Diamond Stone was limited to five points and finished with four personal fouls.

Kansas advanced to the Elite 8 where the Jayhawks will face the Villanova Wildcats.
