WASHINGTON – With guitars, banjos, harmonics and their voices dozens of people honored the memory of American folk singer Pete Seeger who died this week at the age of 94.

Fans and admirers gathered in D.C. Saturday afternoon to commemorate the legendary icon at the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza.

Seeger passed away earlier this week on Monday, Jan. 27 at the age of 94. He was known for his presence along with his musical talents.

Organizers of the local singalong encouraged fans to bring their guitars, banjos, and other instruments.

“The more the merrier. No previous musical talent or experience required–just an appreciation for the great man who lives on through all of us,” according to the Facebook event
