Man dies in crash that blocked D.C. 295

WASHINGTON – A man is dead after a crash on D.C. 295, which closed the roadway for several hours Tuesday morning.

Officials say the driver lost control of his Chevrolet Camaro on the northbound lanes in Washington between East Capitol Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, after midnight. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no one else was hurt.

Authorities blocked the northbound lanes to traffic after the accident. The road reopened to traffic at about 7:45 a.m.

Officials have not yet released the name of the man who died or the circumstances surrounding the crash.
