Bethesda Water Store Reopens After Car Crash

Reopened Bethesda Water Store & More Car into Bethesda Avenue building

Two months after a driver crashed through its front windows, the Bethesda Water Store & More (4959 Bethesda Ave.) has finally reopened.

Owner Shaun DeSouza said the store opened Friday after a long rebuilding process for the storefront’s front windows and door frame. On Oct. 25, an elderly driver accidentally drove through the front of the store, crashing through glass and continuing until the entire car was inside the shop.

The repairs cost $31,000, according to a Montgomery County commercial work permit. DeSouza said the store is back to its regular operating hours — 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. DeSouza will be closing at 5 p.m. on Tuesday for New Year’s Eve.

“I thank my customers for their patience,” DeSouza wrote in an email.
