Man shot by Bowie police officer

WASHINGTON – A 26-year-old man was in stable condition at Prince George’s Hospital after he was shot by Bowie police.

Bowie police went to a home in the 12400 block of Keynote Lane to investigate an auto theft Friday afternoon. The unidentified man fled from the home and jumped into a running truck about two blocks away on Kennison Lane.

The man attempted to hit one of the officers with the truck. Two officers then fired at the man, striking him at least once in the upper body, police say.

Bowie police say charges are pending against the injured man.

Meanwhile, Prince George’s County Police are investigating the officer-involved shooting.

Also Friday afternoon, a D.C. police officer shot a man in Southeast D.C. following an altercation. That man was also taken to a local hospital. Few other details were released.
