WASHINGTON – Amtrak trains are now moving in both directions through Aberdeen, Md. after long delays were caused when a “trespasser” was struck and killed by NB Amtrak 168.

Amtrak says after 4:30 p.m. Saturday a “trespasser” was hit and killed by the northbound No. 168 Northeast Regional train. None of the 300 passengers or crew on the train were injured.

North and southbound trains were halted through the corridor for more than three hours, as Amtrak police investigated the incident.

Amtrak spokesperson Kimberly Woods tells WTOP travel resumed on the train that struck the “trespasser,” who has not been identified.
