Maryland Zoo visitors name lion cubs Luke and Leia

WASHINGTON – Two adorable lion cubs at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore now have names – Luke and Leia.

The ‘Star Wars’ monikers beat out suggestions that ranged from ‘The Simpsons’ to Shakespeare.

According to the zoo, 43,000 votes were tabulated.

The cubs will remain out of public view until the warm weather returns, and they’re able to play outside with another newly adopted female cub named Zuri, who came from Zoo Miami.

The zoo reports all three cuts are doing well, exploring and playing with each other.
