Va. man dies after being ejected from car

WASHINGTON — A 69-year-old Virginia man is dead almost three weeks after being ejected from his car while attempting to make a left turn in the Fort Belvoir area.

Officials say Alex Kovacs of The Plains was driving northbound on Richmond Highway Nov. 22 shortly after 6 p.m. When he tried to make a left, his 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was hit by a BMW traveling southbound.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Kovacs might not have been wearing a seatbelt at the moment of impact.

He was transported to a local hospital, but died Dec. 6.
