Off-duty firefighter shot in D.C.

WASHINGTON – A masked suspect shot an off-duty D.C. fire captain in during an attempted robbery in Southeast Saturday afternoon, police say.

Police say the suspect approached two firefighters around 3 p.m. Saturday as they walked in the 1800 block of Bruce Place SE.

Following the shooting, the firefighter was taken to Engine Co, 32, six blocks from the shooting, and then to the hospital, ABC7 reports.

The firefighter sustained a single gunshot wound that is not life-threatening.

No arrest has been made.
