Squatting for your metro fare (Video)

WASHINGTON – Moscow’s metro is trying to trump up interest in the upcoming Olympic Games in Sochi by offering riders free, one-way tickets, if riders perform squats.

The catch: A rider must perform 30 squats in 2 minutes in front a machine that records the number of squats.

It is appealing to the frugal nature of some and the fun nature of others who don’t mind people watching.

A person saves 30 rubles, roughly 90 cents, if he’s successful.

The promotion at the Vystavochaya station in Moscow runs until Dec. 3 and will be followed by others, the Los Angeles Times reports.
