ROCKVILLE, Md. — A Montgomery County judge sentenced a man to 60 years in prison Monday, the maximum sentence for a stabbing that happened at a Metro bus stop more than a year ago.

Reginald Cooper, 39, was convicted in a jury trial in July of last year.

He was sentenced to 30 years in prison on each of the two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

According to court documents, Cooper got in a fight with two people around the Rockville Metro Station in December 2014 during the morning rush hour. He stabbed both of them at the bus stop, leaving the victims with life-threatening injuries.

One of the men was stabbed at least two times, causing severe lacerations which pierced his liver.

The other victim was stabbed once, causing a severe laceration to his back.
