WASHINGTON – Organizers behind the Army 10-Miler race this weekend are dispelling claims the government shutdown will impact the event.

“It’s going to be on the same race course that we used in 2012,” assures Operations Manager George Banker.

There were concerns the shutdown could force race officials to change the route.

According to Banker, the only noticeable difference this year will be a lack of flyovers and parachute team due to sequestration.

“There was no confusion from our standpoint,” Banker says. “Whatever else has been floating around out there, people are creating their own confusion.”

Around 25,000 people are expected to participate in this Sunday’s event, which starts and ends near the Pentagon.
