Sorority members injured in Delaware bus crash

BEAR, Del. – Officials say several members of a sorority were injured when a bus that was carrying about 40 people overturned in a crash with a tractor trailer in Delaware.

State police say the crash occurred just after 10 p.m. Thursday at an intersection in Bear, south of Wilmington, when the tractor trailer failed to stop for a red light and hit the bus.

University of Delaware director of public relations John Brennan told The News Journal of Wilmington that the students on the bus were members of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority and were on their way to a party.

State police say nine passengers were transported to the hospital and several others were driven to area medical centers. Authorities say none of the injuries were considered life threatening.
