What are the 10 best cities for Virginia job seekers?

Virginia is not just for lovers — it boasts one of the strongest state economies in the country, with Leesburg, Vienna and Herndon ranked as the three best cities for Virginia job seekers.

That’s according to a new NerdWallet survey analyzing population growth, median household income, and the local unemployment rate. The top eight of the 10 that made the list were located close to the nation’s capital.

Leesburg posted the top score, as its population grew by nearly 11 percent between 2009 and 2011.

Vienna had the highest median household income of the list in 2011, at $116,933.

Arlington, which ranked fourth overall, had the lowest unemployment rate of any city on the list, 3.8 percent. That’s nearly half of the national unemployment rate of 7.3 percent reported for August.
