Massive 2-day hip hop concert canceled

WASHINGTON — A major hip hop festival scheduled for D.C. this weekend was canceled on Thursday due to low ticket sales.

Rock the Bells, a massive two-day festival featuring nearly 60 artists, including Wu- Tang Clan, Wale, Talib Kweli, was planned for Saturday and Sunday at RFK Stadium. From there, the festival was scheduled to travel to New York.

Late Thursday, Ticketmaster stopped selling tickets and noted the concert had been canceled. Shortly after, concert officials formally announced low ticket sales caused the cancellations in D.C. and NYC.

All ticket holders can get refunds at point of purchase. Those who purchased online should see a refund automatically in their bank in 5 to 7 days.
