Springfield man pleaded guilty to child porn charges

WASHINGTON – A Springfield man pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of child pornography production, the US State Attorney’s Eastern Virginia District office says.

Andrew Choi, 35, faces anywhere between 15 to 30 years in prison at his sentencing.

Court documents say Choi video chatted with at least 10 boys under age 18 between May 2012 and Jan. 2013. The underage boys performed sex acts on camera, which Choi then recorded using a screen capture program. Authorities found about 600 of these kinds of videos on his computer.

The Manassas City Police Department and Northern Virginia and D.C. Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigated the case. The Justice Department’s Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative to address child abuse and exploitation, also helped with the investigation.

Choi’s sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 24, 2014.
