University of Virginia student dies in D.C.

WASHINGTON – A University of Virginia student died in D.C. Saturday night.

Mary Shelley Goldsmith, a second year University of Virginia student, died at a D.C. hospital, according to a university email to students. She was in town visiting friends, the email says.

Authorities have not said what led to her death or the location.

She was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority at the University of Virginia.

Her father said in a Facebook post that even though she lived less than 20 years, she had more impact than many people who live much longer.
