WTC beam on display in Annapolis

WASHINGTON – It’s a sight to see in Annapolis — a piece of steel from New York City.

The steel was part of the World Trade Center, destroyed in the Sept. 11 terrorist attack. It has made the trek to Annapolis, where you can find it at the Annapolis Fire Station on Taylor Avenue for the next week.

It was escorted here by the Bikers for America’s Bravest organization, and proceeds from the ride will benefit wounded service members.

The steel isn’t getting any rest. After it spends time here, it’s off to Baltimore where it will be on display next weekend. Then it will return to New York next month for the annual Tunnel to Towers 5K run.

In Prince William County, four steel beams from the World Trade Centers are being built into a permanent memorial.
