Reid and McConnell Agree: Nationals Pitcher Jonathan Papelbon Has Got To Go

(WASHINGTON) — The Democratic and Republican leaders of the Senate aren’t on the same team often, but they both agree that Washington Nationals relief pitcher Jonathan Papelbon — who got into a fight with star outfielder Bryce Harper last season — has got to go.

“They need to get rid of Papelbon,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said at a Tuesday morning breakfast discussion.

Later, Democratic Leader Harry Reid was asked on Capitol Hill whether he agreed with his Republican counterpart.

“I’d like to get rid of him myself,” said Reid, who was once an amateur boxer. “Except he might choke me.”

Back in September, Papelbon got into a fight with Harper. He was suspended without pay for four games after the incident, but if these two Congressional leaders had their way he’d be out of Washington forever.
