Pregnant woman facing charges after Ocean City struggle, arrest

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) – Police say they’re charging a woman who had an emergency C-section after an altercation with Ocean City officers on the beach.

The woman was with a group police say created a disturbance on the beach over the weekend, including three men charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Police spokeswoman Lindsay O’Neal told the Daily Times (http://delmarvane.ws/166HwRS ) on Wednesday that Delima Ekundayo Ibironke Palmer was also arrested Sunday, but taken to a hospital when she experienced labor pains. She says assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and hindering charges are now pending against Palmer.

Television stations have broadcast video said to depict the confrontation, including an officer pushing a pregnant woman to the ground. O’Neal says the department will review all videos it receives and launch an internal investigation if necessary.
