NB Md. 4 in Calvert County reopens after crash

WASHINGTON – Officials reopened northbound Md. 4 at Mount Harmony Road in Calvert County less than an hour after they predicted a near 10-hour closure. It may close again at 8 p.m., officials say.

A vehicle hit a utility pole on northbound Md. 4 at about 8 a.m. and the utility company required the roadway be shut down for eight to 10 hours so it can be fixed, according to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office. The roadway reopened to traffic at about 10:15 a.m.

Authorities say they could close Md. 4 again around noon, but later changed that time to 8 p.m.

Calvert County Sheriff’s Office says emergency crews transported at least one person via helicopter to an area hospital. The person is in critical condition, officials say.
