WASHINGTON – About 1,000 Pepco customers are beating the heat early Friday morning without power.

In Montgomery County, Pepco tells WTOP around 800 customers are out in the Glenmont area. No word on what caused that outage. But Pepco is on the scene and expects power to be back on around 4 a.m.

Another 200 customers are out in the District. Pepco says they believe it may be related to the extra stress on the power grid because of the heat. They don’t have an estimate on when power will be back.

Remember if you need the number to your power company, text POWER to 91035 and WTOP will text it back to you.
