Inmate found dead at Charles County Detention Center

WASHINGTON – An inmate died at the Charles County Detention Center Thursday afternoon.

A sheriff’s department spokeswoman says the inmate was found hanging from a bed sheet shortly after he was brought to the jail on a minor charge about 1 p.m.

The inmate was in a holding area.

Another inmate alerted the staff, but they were unable to revive the man.

The inmate’s name has not been released.

The sheriff’s department is calling it a “death investigation.”
