Officer saves child in Accokeek

WASHINGTON – A Prince George’s County Police Department patrol officer is credited with saving the life of a 3-year-old boy in Accokeek Thursday afternoon.

The boy’s family called 911 after finding him tangled in window blind cords.

Police Officer Ariel Acosta was on a traffic stop when he heard the call around 5 p.m. When he got to the home on Livingston Road, the child wasn’t breathing and had turned blue.

The officer started CPR and the child began to breathe. He’s now recovering in a hospital.
