Get a daytime fireworks fix at Mount Vernon

WASHINGTON – If your family, friends or out-of-town guests are seeking a Fourth of July fireworks fix but you don’t want to deal with the crowds on the National Mall, consider a trip to see daytime fireworks at Mount Vernon.

“We have the most unique fireworks display in America,” says Melissa Wood, spokeswoman at Mount Vernon. “Streams of colored smoke will shoot up over the horizon on the Potomac River. It’s really unlike anything you have seen before.”

The fancy fireworks happen at 1 p.m. on the Fourth of July at the former stomping ground of America’s first President, George Washington. In addition to the daytime fireworks, visitors will also be able to enjoy free birthday cake and the latest batch of whiskey from Mount Vernon will be for sale.
