Families displaced in Arlington after tree falls into building

WASHINGTON – The torrential rains have moved on from our area. But the storm left in its wake some families without a home. Seven families have been displaced after a tree about 85 feet in size crashed into a three-story apartment building in south Arlington displacing about 20 residents.

Frank Murphy, property owner of the Greenbrier Apartments said he is grateful no one was hurt.

“Thank God this building is actually older (with) newer construction, the tree would have gone right through the building,” he said.

The Red Cross will help the families to find temporary housing for Friday evening.
