Report: Executive bought Rolex for Virginia governor

WASHINGTON – Citing sources, The Washington Post reports a prominent political donor bought a $6,500 Rolex watch for Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, who didn’t disclose it in his annual financial report.

It’s the latest accusation over gifts to McDonnell by Star Scientific chief executive Jonnie Williams Sr., and the Post says federal investigators also are looking into money and designer clothing reportedly provided to McDonnell’s wife, Maureen.

McDonnell also has faced allegations related to personal expenses.

On Wednesday, McDonnell pushed back on WTOP’s “Ask the Governor” program.

“I have always been diligent to try to report what I think I need to report,” McDonnell said.
