Humongous wasp nest found in Florida (Video)

WASHINGTON – A pest removal expert recently faced a giant fight.

NBC affiliate WFLA reports Jonathan Simkins received a call about a huge yellow jacket nest on a private tract of land in Central Florida. When he got there, Simkins — a flying insect expert with a degree in entomology — saw what he called a “prehistoric nest from the dinosaur ages.”

The gigantic nest was more than 6 feet tall and about 8 feet wide, Simkins says. It may have been home to more than 1 million buzzing wasps.

Simkins says he was terrified while dealing with the scene, according to WFLA. But he did shoot video of the nest before taking care of business and eradicating it.
