Backing up the world’s greatest rock and roll band

WASHINGTON – Twenty four members of the Grammy Award-winning Washington Chorus got some satisfaction last night.

They were invited by the Rolling Stones to sing backup on their classic song, “You Can’t Always Get What you Want.”

The Stones “50 and Counting” world tour wrapped up Monday at the Verizon Center and for the first encore, the chorus members had the thrill of a lifetime.

Julian Wachner, the musical director of the 180 member volunteer chorus had worked with the band before on previous shows, so the invitation was not unexpected.

But it was certainly welcome as members try to get through their work day, a little tired but still smiling.
