Part of Columbia Pike closed at Bailey’s Crossroads

UPDATE 3:00 a.m. 12/31/2014: The break has been fixed, the road has been repaired and all lanes have been reopened.

 

EARLIER: WASHINGTON — A portion of Columbia Pike in the Bailey’s Crossroads area of Fairfax County could be closed for more than 24 hours as repairs are made to a water main that burst.

Columbia Pike is closed between Madison Lane and Tyler Street.

The break is at 6028 Columbia Pike, according to the fire department.

Fairfax County police have tweeted that the road is unstable and buckling.

Drivers are advised to take another route.

In addition to police, the Fairfax County Water Authority and the Virginia Department of Transportation are on the scene.

Super Pet Expo offers its first in-person event in Virginia since pandemic began

A Virginia pet expo running through Sunday is hoping to help those who recently got new pets to find what they need. Eric Udler, producer of the Super Pet Expo at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, said that there has been a significant increase in pets being adopted with so many people working from home.
