WASHINGTON – Look, mom, no pants!
Hundreds of pantless riders hopped on Metro Sunday afternoon.
The annual “No Pants Subway Ride” began 10 years ago in New York by Improv Everywhere. The group calls itself a New York-based “prank collection that causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places.”
The D.C. event was organized by Capitol Improv. An after-party for the pantless will be held at Nellie’s Sports Bar on U Street in Northwest D.C.
Organizers reminded D.C. riders to keep it PG-13 or safer.
It’s not a pants protest, but just supposed to be funny.
The annual subway ride began as a prank with seven guys according to Improv Everywhere and eventually grew in to a global event with dozens of cities around the world participating.
Now pantless subway rides are held in Buenos Aires, Copenhagen, Bangalore, Jerusalem, London, Mexico City and many more cities.
Basically, random passengers board a subway car at separate stops in the middle of winter without pants.
The participants do not behave as if they know each other and they all wear winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves.
The only unusual thing is their lack of pants.
