Walter Johnson’s Larrick Recovers From Knee Injury In Time For College Volleyball Career — Walter Johnson High School’s Kristen Larrick is known as one of the most athletic members of the school’s Class of 2013. But a dislocated right kneecap she suffered in January while practicing on WJ’s basketball team threatened future as a Division-I volleyball recruit at the College William & Mary. Whitman Student Receives $10,000 Scholarship — Walt Whitman’s Alexander Pomerenk was named the Montgomery County recipient of Northrop Grumman’s 11th annual Engineering Scholars scholarship, a program dedicated to high school seniors in Maryland interested in studying engineering, computer science, physics or math. Pomerenk will get $10,000 over four years. To qualify, scholarship winners had to have a minimum SAT score of 1,700 and a minimum GPA of 3.5, plus work experience, community service and other activities that a committee of Northrop Grumman employeeds considered.
