Suspect at large after stabbing woman on Arlington’s Four Mile Run Trail

ARLINGTON – A woman who was attacked this past weekend along a popular trail remains in the hospital and the man responsible is still on the loose.

“She did sustain three stab wounds to the neck,” says Arlington County Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck.

“There were at least four individuals that heard her scream for help.”

The suspect reportedly approached the victim from behind on the Four Mile Run trail before stabbing her.

She is expected to recover.

A sexual assault occurred on the same path last year, but police promise the area is safe.

“We will make our presence known,” assures Sternbeck who says there will be authorities visible on the trail.

Still, joggers and bikers are urged to stay vigilant and be aware of their surroundings.

“Please travel in pairs,” he says.

“If something doesn’t feel right, turn around and head back the other way.”
