WASHINGTON – A cereal commercial that seemed harmless has sparked a racist response on YouTube.

The Cheerios commercial features an interracial couple and their daughter. Under the comment section of the ad featured on YouTube, the comments became so racially charged that the social media site shut down the comment section all together.

Some of the comments referenced Nazis, troglodytes and racial genocide, reports the Huffington Post.

The ad received more than 1,600 likes and over 500 dislikes.
