Former Md. U.S. Navy reservist pleads guilty to exploiting 30 boys

WASHINGTON – A former U.S. Navy reservist from Maryland is pleading guilty to sexually exploiting more than 30 boys.

Anthony K. Mastrogiovanni, 30, of Crofton, Md., collected and produced child pornography, according to Department of Defense documents.

Between 2006 and 2012, Mastrogiovanni befriended the kids between the ages of 9 and 16 in Maryland and Louisiana, the documents say.

Mastrogiovanni captured sexually explicit video on hidden cameras in his homes in both states, the DOD says.

Mastrogiovanni has been in federal custody since July 2012, when investigators raided his Las Vegas hotel room and found more than 30,000 images of children, including video of his victims.

The same day, investigators searched his Crofton apartment and found hidden cameras and video transmitting technology.

Mastrogiovanni faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 15 years in federal prison and a maximum of 30 years in prison followed by up to a lifetime of supervised release for sexual exploitation.
