Man invents working lightsaber

WASHINGTON – Star Wars fans won’t believe their eyes when they see a fellow fan has invented a working lightsaber.

Drake Anthony, 17, posted a video of his 3-watt do-it-yourself lightsaber on YouTube under his username, styropyro.

Small objects like cardboard and tape ignite when Anthony holds them in the beam’s path.

“I usually try to refrain from using the term ‘lightsaber’ when referring to my lasers but there really isn’t much else out there to describe this laser,” Anthony posts in the video description.

The DIY laser was created with a laser diode from a DLP projector and powered by two 18650 lithium-ion batteries, the Huffington Post reports.
