WASHINGTON – The beach may be a little more crowded this summer as visitors from New Jersey are looking for a new place to lounge after Superstorm Sandy.

Instead of the Jersey Shore, vacationers are looking to the south, according to Jennifer Idzi with the Bethany Fenwick area Chamber of Commerce. She says an increase in calls have been coming from up north in search of a summertime destination.

Superstorm Sandy hit the Jersey Shore hard but the damage wasn’t as harsh along the Delmarva peninsula.

“I’m from New Jersey. I usually go to the shore. I’m looking for something new. I’ve never been, what do I do?” Those are the comments and questions that the call centers are hearing from N.J. beach lovers, says Idzi.
