Making a traditional margarita for Cinco de Mayo

WASHINGTON – For many Americans, sipping a nice, cold margarita goes hand-in- hand with celebrating Cinco de Mayo. And if you’re trying to steer clear of the packed bars and restaurants, why not make a margarita at home?

Alexandra Bookless, assistant general manager at The Passenger says it is easy to make a delicious, traditional margarita at home with a few simple ingredients.

Here is what you need:

  • 1.5 ounces of good-quality Tequilla
  • 2/3 of an ounce of Cointreau
  • 3/4 of an ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Ice
  • Salt
  • A chilled cocktail glass
