VRE rides to cost more

WASHINGTON – VRE riders should expect to shell out more to get to work.

The commuter train’s operations board approved a 4 percent fare increase Friday. The price changes take effect July 1.

The increase is expected to bring in $1.4 million in extra revenue during the next fiscal year.

A one-way trip from Fredericksburg to downtown D.C. Will now cost $11.10 and a monthly pass will cost riders $305.
