SILVER SPRING, Md. – A group of middle school students meet in secret, act on their own, and they’re unpredictable.
Thankfully, they’re doing good deeds.
They’re called the Transformers, and they’re change-agents carrying out random acts of kindness in an effort to make A. Mario Loiderman Middle School a nicer place.
The idea was the brainchild of Nancy Jimenez, a seventh-grade counselor at the school.
“I saw a YouTube video of a Canadian middle schooler who started doing random acts of kindness and I thought, ‘Our students can do this,'” she told the Gazette.
She organized six students from each of the school’s three grade levels to plan on promoting positive actions.
The group’s latest stunt was providing every student and staff member with a free glazed donut on Dec. 23. The group was able to convince the Wheaton Donuts Inc., which owns the Dunkin Donuts franchises to donate the more than 900 donuts needed.
