VIDEO: ‘Girls want superheroes’

WASHINGTON – Girls like more than “pink stuff” when it comes to toys – this is the message from a very wise 5-year-old girl named Riley Barry.

The Huffington Post U.K. recently posted a video of Riley pontificating on gender stereotyping when it comes to toy manufacturing, as she was standing in a toy aisle choking with pink toys for girls.

Among her best quotes: “Girls want superheroes and boys want superheroes.”

And, “The companies who make these try to trick the girls into buying the pink stuff instead of stuff boy wants to buy, right?”

She says boys also like princesses, in addition to superheroes.

The Huffington Post says the video, which was filmed in New York, has been viewed more than 200,000 times.
