D.C. teacher admits sending sexually explicit texts

WASHINGTON – Court documents show a District of Columbia high school teacher has admitted to sending sexually explicit text messages to about 10 students during his career.

Twenty-nine-year-old John Solano was arrested last week on a child pornography charges. He was in U.S. District Court for a hearing Monday. Court records show his attorney is negotiating a plea deal with prosecutors.

Solano is a science teacher at McKinley Technology High School and has been placed on administrative leave. The documents show two students told police that Solano had sent them text messages about their bodies and masturbation.

According to the documents, Solano sent a sexually explicit photograph of himself to one student and urged the student to do the same. Solano admitted sending the texts in a statement to police.
