Police kill burglary suspect in Dumfries

WASHINGTON – A burglary suspect has been shot and killed by Prince William County Police in Dumfries.

A police spokesman says officers shot a man after he pulled out a gun in a wooded area off Route 1 after fleeing from a traffic stop.

The incident has closed northbound Route 1 near Bradys Hill Road.

Police initially found the suspect in a vehicle that was seen at a burglary in the 1500 block of Indiana Avenue in Woodbridge Wednesday. When police found the car, the driver, a female, surrendered without incident.

Police did not release the names of the suspects.

The officers involved have been put on administrative leave while the incident is under investigator.
