Va. man charged after rear-ending, sideswiping car

WASHINGTON – A 25-year-old man who allegedly rear-ended and then sideswiped a car in Fairfax County has been charged with reckless driving.

Authorities say Juan Carlos Gudiel was seen tailgating a car just after midnight Sunday on the Fairfax County Parkway. The Centreville, Va. man allegedly rear-ended a 2003 Honda before pulling up next to it and side-swiping the vehicle. He then fled the scene and continued onto Interstate 66 westbound.

The driver of the Honda was not injured.

Virginia State Police finally caught up with Gudiel after he ran a red light on Lee Highway.

He is now facing charges from both the Virginia State Police and Fairfax County police, including reckless driving, disregarding a red light, resisting arrest, driving under the influence, attempted malicious wounding, felony hit and run and driving on a suspended license.
