Fauquier County wineries fight new farm winery ordinance

A new farm winery ordinance affecting Fauquier County’s 26 wineries has become a battle between winery owners and neighbors, who say living next to a winery can mean noise and traffic, WJLA.com reported.

A new rule as part of an ordinance issued last August meant wineries had to close at a set time and there couldn’t be toasts after 6 p.m.

“We may lose up to $1 million in revenue,” says Jorge Massas, general manager at Barrel Oak Winery, the county’s largest.
