Soldier from Woodsboro killed in Afghanistan

A 30-year-old soldier from Woodsboro died Sunday in Afghanistan when a vehicle he was traveling in was hit by an improvised explosive device.

The remains of U.S. Army Specialist Ronald Wildrick are at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware awaiting transport to Frederick County, said Kit Hartzler, a director at Hartzler Funeral Home in Woodsboro, which will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Hartzler said the scheduling of the services will depend on when the Army releases the body, which could take place within the next few days. Wildrick will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
