Police shoot, kill man near Seat Pleasant

WASHINGTON – Prince George’s County police shot and killed a man Wednesday afternoon near Seat Pleasant in Pepper Mill Village, Md. after he threatened to commit suicide and waved a gun.

The 43-year-old man called Maryland Park Police at about noon and said he was going to kill himself, police say.

When police arrived at his home in the 6700 block of Valley Park Road, they say the man came out of his house and began waving a gun in a threatening manner.

Police say words were exchanged before the five police officers shot the man, killing him.

It is not known how many times the man was shot, and it is not known if the suspect fired any shots.

The officers are on routine paid administrative leave.

No identifications have been made on the officers or the suspect.
