Ballston Metro station(Updated at 11:50 a.m.) Metro service has been temporarily suspended between Clarendon and East Falls Church due to a person struck by a train at the Ballston Metro station.

A woman “appears to have intentionally placed herself in the path of an arriving inbound Orange Line train,” according to WMATA. Police, firefighters, paramedics, and a technical rescue company are now on the scene.

“For the protection of rescue workers, it is necessary to temporarily suspend service between Clarendon and East Falls Church,” WMATA said. “Metrobus is sending shuttle buses for affected customers; it may take up to 30 minutes to have sufficient buses in position.”
