O’Malley may choose state delegate from Prince George’s County

WASHINGTON – Tiffany Alston had it and lost it.

Greg Hall was nominated to fill it, but that fell apart.

Maryland’s highest court ruled that neither was entitled to the 24th District’s seat.

Now, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley is positioned to name someone he wants to take former Delegate Alston’s seat. But he cannot do that until the Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee rescinds Hall’s nomination.

The committee’s choice of Hall came under fire when his criminal record as a drug dealer became known.

The General Assembly session starts on Wednesday. It is unclear if the seat will be filled by then.
